As part of the 6th Intellectual Property Congress, which took place in Lisbon on 19 and 20 October, Pedro Sousa e Silva presented a paper on the reform of the design regime in the EU. Nuno Sousa e Silva took part in the panel on the reform of Portuguese copyright law (a new copyright code?) and in the panel on the relationship between copyright, personality rights and deepfakes.

Nuno Sousa e Silva presented a paper on “Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property” at the 1st Congress on Artificial Intelligence and Law, organized by Almedina on April 13, 2023. The intervention aimed to draw conclusions on the adequacy of the Industrial Law and Copyright Law regime, in particular to the outputs of Artificial Intelligence. The paper was published in the collective work “I Congress on Artificial Intelligence and Law”".
 

 Benedita Cnha Pinto published an article in the latest edition of RED - Revista Electrónica de Direito (2022, nr. 1, Vol. 27), with the title: "Does it make sense for a company to move its headquarters or establishment because of the General Data Protection Regulation?". The purpose of the text is to ascertain whether the transfer of headquarters, or even of establishment, can be justified because of the European regime on data protection.

Due to the favorable evolution of the pandemic situation in Portugal, our services are now fully operational. The health precautions, however, remain in application, as well as the preference for remote means of communication.

The Annotated Industrial Property Code was recently published by the publisher Almedina and is available here. The work includes the annotation of 76 articles by Pedro Sousa e Silva (regarding the General Part, design right and the protection and enforcement of exclusive rights) and of 52 articles by Nuno Sousa e Silva (regarding the General Part, Unfair Competition and Trade Secrets).
