PTCS has its origin in one of Oporto's oldest law firms, founded in 1984. Amongst its founders was Carlos Maria Pinheiro Torres, later joined by Luis Cabral and Maria Inês Araújo and, more recently, by Pedro Sousa e Silva. In September 2009 the firm adopted its present designation and moved its office to Rua Mota Pinto.
The firm's main areas of practice are Corporate and Commercial Law, Intellectual Property, Tax Law, Administrative and Public Procurement Law, Labour Law and Civil Law, including Contract and Inheritance Law, as well as more specific areas such as Arbitration, Transport Law and Wine Law.
The firm has a close connection with the business world and cultural institutions. Some of its members teach at the University and at the Bar Association training programs, and served in relevant political-administrative functions and at the Bar Association.
